Vice President Sara Duterte failed to appear on November 29 over the subpoena issued by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) citing a schedule conflict caused by last-minute cancellation of a panel hearing at the House of Representatives’ inquiry on her alleged misuse of funds. The agency has rescheduled her appearance on December 11. Analysts note that NBI has issued the Vice President subpoena after openly threatening to assassinate President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., his cousin House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and the first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, at an impromptu virtual press conference.
