Timor-Leste Deports Arnolfo Teves, Suspended Congressman and Alleged Degamo Assassination Mastermind

Erstwhile Negros Oriental representative and designated terrorist Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves, Jr. was finally re-arrested in Timor-Leste last Tuesday, May 27. The former congressman was implicated in a series of what appeared to be politically motivated killings in Negros Oriental since 2019, including the assassination of former Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo in 2023. Relatives of the victims welcomed Mr. Teves’s arrest and deportation, which his camp has worked to stall by appealing against extradition attempts made by the Philippines in the last two years.
