The Duality of Man: Analyzing the Partylist Race Of The 2025 Midterm Elections

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) proclaimed the winning partylists of the 2025 midterm elections yesterday, May 19. Social democratic partylist Akbayan Citizen’s Action Party (Akbayan) topped this year’s race, clinching three seats for the first time in the party’s history, and garnering the highest number of votes for any partylist in election history. Trailing in second is Duterte Youth, a group originally organized to support former president Rodrigo Duterte’s 2016 presidency, and whose proclamation was suspended following an unresolved petition over its legitimacy.
