As is typical, the crime patterns observed in the month of May 2019 primarily involved low level crimes, particularly crimes against property (theft and qualified theft). Much more rare were violent incidents such as armed robbery and kidnapping. Recorded incidents of attempted murder involved two Germans both in Negros Oriental and three Chinese nationals in Metro Manila. One incident of a phone scam (also with Chinese Victims) was recorded, where domestic staff gave valuables to a Dugo-Dugo gang.
Crime incidents against foreigners recorded in May 2019 primarily occurred between 6:00 pm and 12 midnight and mostly involved Chinese victims. Out of the 13 kidnapping incidents recorded this month, seven occurred in Metro Manila. Three of these incidents were loan shark-related abductions involving Chinese victims, two were abductions of a Chinese national not linked to loan sharks, while two other incidents involved suspected mentally unstable suspects (both targeting Filipino Children).
