PSA recorded 13 crimes against businesspersons and establishments in October 2025. The incidents were not concentrated in one area but occurred in different parts of the country.
PSA recorded an unusual incident of cable theft in Makati City, allegedly carried out by individuals posing as employees of a water concessionaire. The suspects apparently wore legitimate workers’ uniforms and successfully gained access to critical infrastructure.
The incident further underscores that amid evolving as cyberthreats and digital security risks, individuals and institutions must continue to improve traditional and physical security measures. Physical attacks on infrastructure, such as cable cutting, can result in significant service interruptions and economic losses.
During the period, the National Capital Region (NCR) accounted for the highest number of recorded incidents at four. These incidents took place in the cities of Las Piñas, Makati, Manila, and Quezon City. Other incidents during the period were recorded in Northern and Southern Luzon (Ilocos Region and Calabarzon), Western and Central Visayas, and parts of Mindanao (Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, Soccsksargen and Caraga).
Meanwhile, 32 smuggling and counterfeit-related incidents were reported nationwide in October 2025. The reported illegal shipments and fake products that have entered the country and were intercepted this month amounted to PHP 143.7 million (USD 2.4 million).
This month’s featured crime stories highlight two significant incidents: a robbery targeting a money changer in Quezon City and an incident of cable theft in Makati City.
