Media Scans on Significant Crimes Against Businesses, Smuggling and Counterfeit Goods – May 2025

PSA recorded 16 crimes against businesspersons and establishments in May 2025. Five of the incidents during the period were recorded in the National Capital Region (Metro Manila), particularly in Quezon City, San Juan City, Mandaluyong City, Taguig City and Parañaque City. Other incidents during the period were recorded in North and South Luzon (Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon) and Western and Sothern Mindanao (Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, and Bangsamoro Region).

Meanwhile, 26 smuggling and counterfeit-related incidents were reported nationwide in May 2025. The reported illegal shipments and fake products that have entered the country and were intercepted this month amounted to PHP 16 billion (USD 287.9 million).

This month’s featured crime stories highlight two significant incidents: a robbery at a commercial bank in Taguig City and the robbery-murder of three Batangas-based goat dealers in Maguindanao del Sur.
