PSA recorded 19 crimes against businesspersons and establishments in January 2026. The incidents were not concentrated in one area but occurred in different parts of the country.
During this period, PSA recorded two separate carjacking incidents that took place in Pasay City and Manila City. In both cases, the suspects forcibly seized control of the vehicles while the passengers were still on board.
In both incidents, the perpetrators reportedly approached the vehicles at vulnerable moments, swiftly overpowering or intimidating the drivers to gain control. The presence of victims during the takeover heightened the level of risk, exposing multiple individuals to potential harm.
Meanwhile, 31 smuggling and counterfeit-related incidents were reported nationwide in January 2026. The reported illegal shipments and counterfeit products that entered the country and were intercepted this month amounted to PHP 795.4 million (USD 13.5 million). A map of the incidents recorded during the period is included on page 16 of this report.
