PSA Intelligence recorded 21 crimes against businesspersons and establishments in February 2026. The incidents were not concentrated in one area but occurred in different parts of the country.
During this period, PSA Intelligence recorded two separate robberies targeting a jewelry shop in Bulacan and a Chinese businesswoman in Makati City.
The reported robbery incidents against businesses this month may be attributed to a series of coordinated incidents occurring within a specific area and carried out by the same crime syndicate or group of individuals. Such cases often show a pattern where the perpetrators intentionally target several establishments using similar methods, timing, or strategies. Criminals may take advantage of security gaps, their familiarity with the locality, or their understanding of how businesses operate, allowing them to repeatedly carry out the attack before law enforcement authorities are able to respond.
PSA Intelligence strongly encourages businesses to boost their security measures through the installation of CCTV and alarm systems. Establishing coordination with law enforcement and nearby establishments is also crucial to enable faster response and information sharing. Regular risk assessments, staff training, and access control measures can further deter criminal activities.
Meanwhile, a total of 39 smuggling and counterfeit-related incidents were reported nationwide in February 2026. The reported illegal shipments and counterfeit products that entered the country and were intercepted this month amounted to PHP 1.1 billion (USD 18.6 million).
