PSA recorded six kidnapping incidents in October 2022. All the incidents recorded this month were related to personal disputes. Based on the recorded incidents, two abductions in October demanded ransom money worth around PHP 1 million (USD 17,765).
There have been nine kidnap victims reported in October, two of them were foreign victims – one Vietnamese and one Chinese national. According to PSA data, one abduction occurred within Metro Manila, while the other incidents took place in the provinces of Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Rizal, and Sultan Kudarat. Meanwhile, no kidnapping incidents targeting Western nationals were recorded this month.

Out of the six abductions this month, one incident resulted in the demise of the victim. The incident was perpetrated by unidentified armed suspects who kidnapped a 25-year-old man in the province. Analysts note that the suspects seemed to have another motivation other than abducting the victim. The incident appeared to have been done to transfer the victim to another location for eventual execution.
PSA recorded one successful kidnap rescue operation this month. The operation was in response to one abduction targeting one Chinese national. Authorities rescued the victim on the same day the victim was abducted.
