Robbery-Kidnapping of Pasay Gold Traders: PHP 6.7 Million Stolen, Possible Insider Information

Authorities have arrested one of nine suspects in the robbery-kidnapping of three gold traders in Pasay City on January 21, 2026, where the suspects amassed roughly PHP 6.7 million (USD 115,946) in cash and jewelry. The suspect was arrested through a Global Positioning System (GPS) tracker hidden inside one of the victims’ bags, which led local police to a private resort in Calamba City, Laguna on January 22. Authorities are investigating a possible insider accomplice or tipster who may have had access to the victims’ itinerary and information on the significant amount of valuables that they intended to transport.
