The Black Friday protests in Metro Manila were generally peaceful and no untoward incidents were reported, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP). Separate protests by university students and progressive groups were recorded on Friday, September 12, calling for greater transparency and accountability from the government in light of the corruption allegations involving selected private contractors in recent flood control projects. Demonstrations were recorded in Pasay, Manila, and Quezon cities, which reportedly resulted in minor traffic disruptions along EDSA and nearby areas.
