PCG Harassment By China Results in a Collision Between Two Chinese Vessels

In the morning of Monday, August 11, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported that two Chinese vessels collided in an area near Bajo de Masinloc (Scarborough Shoal). The incident happened when the two Chinese vessels were chasing PCG vessel BRP (Barko ng Republika ng Pilipinas) Suluan, which was escorting boats bringing aid to fisherfolk in the area as part of the Kadiwa program. Immediately following the collision, the PCG vessel offered medical assistance to the Chinese vessels – an offer that was met with a resounding silence.
