NPA Claims Responsibility for Five Attacks in Negros Occidental

Since June of this year, PSA reported one arson incident targeting a business and four assassinations of alleged military informants in the province of Negros Occidental. PSA notes that the incidents do not indicate an increasing capability of the NPA in the region. Rather it is indicative of the presence of the remnants of the rebel group and their limited operations against government security forces in the province, which is considered a hotspot of rebel activity across different periods and one of the cores of the Communist insurgency movement in the country.
