Japan-Philippines Activate Reciprocal Access Agreement; Provide Post-Earthquake Aid in Cebu

The Japan-Philippines Reciprocal Access Agreement (RAA) entered into force last September 11 and its inaugural activity was held in Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu from October 7 to 11. Given the timing of the exercise, which focused on combined training exercises on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, the Japanese government provided humanitarian assistance to victims of the September 30 magnitude 6.9 Cebu earthquake. Throughout the duration of the activity, C-130 transport aircraft were used for airlift and mobility operations simulating real disaster scenarios, alongside the actual relief aid provided.
