Former President Rodrigo Duterte suggested killing senators in a bomb blast to make room for his allies, a statement claimed by many of his supporters as a joke but criticized by most political observers as an explicit threat. The recent statement is widely regarded as just another manifestation of the spat between the Marcoses and the Dutertes, which is expected to worsen following Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment and in the months leading to the midterm elections in May.
