Tensions Flare Up in the West Philippine Sea After 3-Month Break

The Philippines and China clashed anew in the West Philippine Sea after almost three months of relative calm in the contested waterway. The three successive incidents in the last two weeks follow the passage of new Philippine maritime laws and China’s responses to these laws, as well as new military partnerships between the Philippines and the United States.
