Kanlaon Volcano Erupts, Affects Negros Island and Some Areas in Western Visayas 

Last Monday, December 9, a brief eruption occurred at the summit vent of Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island. Authorities upgraded the volcano’s alert status from Level 2 (increasing unrest) to Level 3 (magmatic unrest). Residents within the six-kilometer radius of the volcano were asked to evacuate, while ashfall was reported in areas within the Negros Island, Iloilo, Antique, and Guimaras.
