Additional Security Measures Implemented in Maguindanao Ahead of May 2025 Polls

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) regional police recently reported that at least 29 incidents of gun violence had occurred in the provinces of Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur from January 12 to 31, raising security concerns as the May 2025 midterm elections draw nearer. These incidents have resulted in the deaths of at least 24 individuals, including government security forces, village officials, and civilians.
